Jim’s solid track record for the past several decades speaks for itself - but satisfied customers can say it even better themselves. Read on...and discover why New Jersey homebuyers turn to Fine Homes by James J. Eskin when they're ready to build their dream homes with a trusted and skilled master carpenter.
“What a great builder! Jim is the utmost professional and craftsman. He pays attention to details, is responsive and strives to please. Having him build our home was a pleasant experience. It took 50 weeks to complete our home; I believe this was a remarkably short time for a house of this size and complexity. All of his subcontractors showed up on schedule and we saw continuous progress each day. My husband and I had heard horror stories about building a new house but we experienced none of the problems we had heard so much about. Jim directed us to a great architect, used outstanding subcontractors, and from start to finish we were more than satisfied with the results. That was 12 years ago and we are still delighted with our home. We would recommend Jim (and do) to anyone looking for the best.”

"Working with Jim Eskin as a home builder was a pleasure. His creativity, temperament and vision guided us to important and very satisfactory results.. His positive, caring and reasonable approach to all matters made it easy to work with him. Most important was the outstanding quality and workmanship in the home he built for us. He delivered on his promises and he delivered on time. We found it a distinct pleasure to do business with Jim Eskin."

“When we first contemplated building a house we were inundated with pessimistic opinions from quite a few people on the pitfalls we might encounter – nothing could be further from the truth. From our first meeting Jim gave us confidence in his ability to build our dream house. Not only was this whole process a wonderful experience for us, but the finished result could not be better. The workmanship and expertise from his own staff and his subcontractors was evident from day one – we were advised of every step, consulted on everything, helped with multiple choices of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, brickwork, stucco, etc. etc. The house was completed in record time and is absolutely beautiful – we cannot thank Jim enough.”

“I have several stories about our experiences with Jim Eskin but here are a few highlights:
....It is 4th of July weekend and the roof has been taken off and a tarp is now covering my log home. The rain begins at night and hurricane winds kick up. I am in Queens, New York, fast asleep and in the morning, my neighbor calls to tell me that a truck was in my driveway by 4 a.m. that day. Guess who couldn't sleep worrying about the tarp blowing away, drives to my house in the middle of the night and stays by himself in the attic until the storm was over in the morning - JIM ESKIN....It is a Friday late afternoon and I drive up from the city to check out the job. I walk in and Jim and John are talking "quietly.” Anyone who knows Jim - especially on a job - knows that one thing he is not, is quiet. So I figure they are either having a private conversation or something bad has happened.
As it turns out, the something ‘bad’ was the fact that the ceiling in my living room was literally bouncing when they walked upstairs because the structural engineer completely miscalculated the spec. As they start explaining the situation to me and the more I see the ceiling moving with my own eyes, the quieter and paler I became - and of course must have looked like I was about to cry at any moment. The solution was to take apart everything they had just finished installing, get the right material and start over – all of which would amount to more TIME and MONEY.
Well, Jim starts making calls at 4 p.m. on a Friday in the summer to try to find the right material and have it delivered Saturday morning - not an easy task. At the same time we had to meet with the "genius" architect and structural engineer one last time. To say the least, I was not a happy camper that night. About 9 p.m. that evening, I get a call from Jim who tells me it doesn't seem so bad. He found the material, it was going to be delivered the next day and then to top it off, he then tells me that he will try to use as much of the lumber he had to remove as possible and would only charge me his cost - no markup.
Both of these stories speak volumes as to the kind of person he really is. I could go on about the quality of his work and the caring he demonstrates, but those are simply a given.

"In 2007 our family experienced a house fire that destroyed our home 4 days before Thanksgiving. Needless to say it was a devastating time. On a friend’s referral, we met and then hired Jim Eskin to rebuild our home. Jim assured us that he would do everything in his power to get us home by Thanksgiving 2008. True to his word, he, all his employees and sub-contractors worked diligently to meet that promise. My husband and I were rewarded time and time again by our decision to hire Jim. The craftsmanship and professionalism was second to none. I have been in the business of working with contractors since 1991 and I had never had a contractor with such regard for punctuality, loyalty or deadlines. Jim’s relationships with his sub-contractors speak volumes for his business practice. They all work together and respect each other which shines through in their work and their finished product. We are so pleased with the outcome of our home and Jim’s commitment to making it ours again. No one walks in to our home with out complimenting its beauty and uniqueness. We were home again for Thanksgiving 2008 and our life was back on track, all thanks to Jim and his crew. We will always be grateful to Jim and his tenacity and professionalism!!”
